If needed, the descaling process may be initiated without brewer notifications. This may be recommended if 1) filtered water has not been used and/or the water is mineral heavy; 2) brewer hasn’t been used for a while; or 3) brewer water flow is slower than usual.
To set up for descaling:
Mix descaling solution with one liter of room temperature filtered water and pour into the water tank to maximum fill line. Replace the water tank on the brewer. Be sure there is no B-Pod® in the brew chamber and lower the handle. Be sure that the drip tray does not contain excess liquid and is placed on the base. Place at 12 oz or larger mug on the drip tray.
How to manually initiate descaling mode:
Unplug your brewer for a few moments, then plug it back in.
After doing that you will have one minute to initiate the descaling process by pressing the Americano and 1 oz icons together. (Please note that if the icons are not registering, you may need to use a lighter touch as the Bruvi touchscreen is very sensitive and does not require a lot of pressure.)
Press both icons and hold them down for about 5 seconds until you hear 5 beeping sounds, which will put the brewer into the descaling mode. The touchscreen will show the Americano + 1oz buttons solid blue/green.
Then you can proceed to follow the descaling instructions which can be found in the Bruvi Quick Start Guide or click this link.
Note that the descaling process may be stopped by pressing the Start/Stop button.
